Welcome to BUSOM!

Who we are:

Hello and welcome to the Bradford University Society of Operettas and Musicals (BUSOM)! We’re a warm and friendly society that meet twice a week at 7pm on Tuesdays in the Activities Room and Thursdays in the Escape Bar (which can be subject to change), both of which are located in Student Central at the University of Bradford. The society is open to both students and non-students (the general public).

Over the course of the year we perform a number of concerts and shows; with concerts generally held around Christmas time and at the end of the academic year – it’s not to be missed! What’s more, is that we put on a fully staged show in March, all-singing and all-dancing, and is the highlight of the BUSOM calender. In each of these productions there are ample opportunities for all members to try their hand at all elements of theatre: singing, acting, costume, and even directing. Even if singing or acting is not your thing, we are always looking out for wonderful people to help out with tech – the backbone to any great production!

Upcoming Productions 2015/16:

Winter showcase: Meet Tony and Olivier

Main Show: Back to the 80s

Summer concert: I Can Sing a Rainbow – 28th April 2016

(dates TBC)

Other information

When not rehearsing for our own shows, the society often takes trips to see productions at Local Theatres.

With its combination of friendly meetings, fantastic performances and an emphasis on the social side of the society, it’s little surprise that many members have found BUSOM to be at the heart of their university experience.

Membership is £6 for Students and £10 for Non-Students
